Trail Running Workshop for Women

Trail Running Workshop for Women

Join us, Saturday 6/27 for a full day Trail Running Workshop for Women just outside of Bethel, ME. Enjoy a fun, casually-paced 10-12 mile trail run on a mix of dirt roads and single track trails. We will make our way to the top of Sunday River and follow the ridge to the open ledges on White Cap Mountain.

After a welcome and introductions, the day will start with a proper warm up, including dynamic stretching and plyometric exercises. From various places along the trail we will stop to discuss appropriate strength training for runners. Together, we will practice various strength training exercises to build confidence and learn proper form and movement patterns. We will talk about running form/gait and practice drills designed to improve running economy.

At the top of White Cap, we will enjoy lunch with some beautiful views, and talk about the importance of supporting your body with proper fueling and hydration. We will discuss the details of what and when to eat for optimal performance and recovery. On the way back down we will take time to practice downhill running on both dirt roads and single track. When we get back to the parking lot, we will caravan to a local swimming hole for a refreshing cold-water swim!

This workshop is designed to be an introduction to trail running. In order to be comfortable on this run, you should at least have experience hiking (if not some trail running) and be able to run 8-10 miles at a time on the road. The pace will be casual (often hiking the uphills) with frequent breaks and extended stops. The day is designed to be fun and informative. The goal is to provide a safe and supportive space to dive into trail running.
